In order to help parents set up a productive schdule while doing at home learning, I am providing the approximate amounts of time we spend on each subject per day in class. Parents are in no way required to follow this exactly, please make a schedule that works for your family. I would absolutely enourage you to spend time planning and cooking meals together, sewing, gardening (when possible), even changing the oil or a tire together. This unexpected time together will allow us to spend some creative, back to basics time together which is so beneficial to our kids. Don't forget to GET OUTSIDE! We all could use more outside, active playtime.
Math: 1.5 hours per day
Language (includes reading, writing, grammar, etc.): 1 hour per day
Language crosses all other curricular areas as there are large amounts of reading and writing in all other subjects. I take writing and comprehension into consideration in all other subject areas. Thoughts and ideas should always be clearly communicated.
Science: 1 hour per day
History / Social Studies: 1 hour per day
In addition to these 4 core academic areas, students recieve specials classes. The following approximate time amounts are per week for specials:
Physical Education: 2 hours per week
Music / Art: 3 hours per week
Computer / Technology: 2 hours per week
Library: 1 hour per week
If you would like more ideas or specifics in topics to cover or strategies to use, please don't hesitate to DoJo or email me! **Please be aware that students already have specific assignments they have been working through on Khan Academy and Pearson Realize. New digital assignments will appear on Google Classroom, as well as on the actual site it was created on if our distance learning is extended. All students know how to access these. If you are a family that does not have internet access, please let me know and we will come up with a specialized plan in order to avoid any student falling behind.
Pizza Hut's BOOK IT! Program
The Book It! Program is an optional program that students can choose to participate in. It is a fun way to celebrate reading, learning, and achieving!
